1) I should've backed up my iphone just before I went.
2) I should've checked my insurance had carried over from my last contract.

Left my phone on a table at the open air bar when I went to collect my daughter from an activity and some toerag managed to swipe it when my missus wasn't looking. Bastards. They are expensive to replace, although I have done so with an iphone4. Not very happy about that, but restoring and synching as I type and it doesn't look like I've lost too much (apart from the cash) - a few photos, but that's about it. That apart, we had a very nice trip.

Next up on 23rd August, a week's diving at Guadalupe with Great Whites :)

Sorry to hear about the phone. Otherwise, though, it sounds like you're having fun. A week's diving in Guadalupe...damn! Have a great time.

I hadn't mate, although is that available on the 3GS or just the 4 ? I have it on auto-lock anyway, and Vodafone apparently are able to disable it using some sort of serial code. I also sent a text to it in the morning with info on my hotel with no luck. Will definitely enable that on this iphone4 though, thanks sir !

I learned two things from a week in Ibiza.

1) Pulling when drunk is an extremely bad idea

2) Being shat upon mid-screw might entertain the Germans but it's not for me.

Bummer, feel for you, mate.

I took my iphone4 abroad this past weekend and it was as useless as a housebrick. No net, no mobile provider/signal. I was in Germany. Did I need to activate it somehow to use it outside Britain, or is the German tech infrastructure just poor?

You might have had data roaming switched off, but that would only explain internet. Maybe you didn't have 'automatic' switched on on 'carrier' ? Also, some providers you have to tell to switch on 'roaming' so that you can use the phone abroad.

Lesson learned - I went to mybubble and got loss/theft/breakage cover for my new iphone4 for 6.99 a month. Half the price of the Vodafone equivalent.

The tech infrastructure certainly isn't great here. I've just moved back from the Netherlands to Germany and it feels like I've traveled a few years back in time. :)
