So, thought I try starting 'a thread', as I understand ther're called by the whizzkids.

Anyway, seems there is a PC demo available of Tropico 4 (PC only atm). Now this is a franchise that has totally passed me by, any good? I'm gathering it's a sort of Sim City with humour?

Only played the first one, but if you are after a humorous island build-up sim you can't go wrong. In 1 the economic model was pretty basic in my opinion. One gold mine and you pretty much could stop worrying about money. If there was no gold, one or two mid-class hotels did the trick just as well.
It's not nearly as deep as say SimCity or even The Settlers, but I liked the first one nonetheless.

The music is excellent! Perfect for rainy days. :)

But, yeah, I haven't played a Tropico game since the first one so a lot may and probably has changed. Would love to try the new one, but I have neither a gaming PC nor a 360.

Tropico 3 (especially with Absolute Power) was great, rather tricky at times on some of the scenarios but enjoyable.

Hopefully this mixes things up a bit.

Hmm, it's a bit too similar to Tropico 3, it's got some nice features like the objectives being easily trackable and the ministry will probably make a difference if you appoint idiots but I'm not seeing anything that'll get me spending until it's in a sale.

Really annoying that a lot of the new buildings aren't usable in the demo at all, which seems a bit strange.

Couldn't see any important changes from Tropico 3.

The only big change is on the game engine that seems alot more optimized this time.

And also, for some reason the economy seams way off... Around half way through the demo I already had more than 100k of $!!!!
