Hi chaps - just returned from trip to Isla Guadalupe, diving with Great Whites. Had an amazing time including one inquisitive young shark ramming my cage !

Have put some pics up on Flickr here if you're interested.

Nah Syrok, it was a real childhood ambition to do it. The vagueries of the 1970s film certificates in the UK allowed my dad to take me to see Jaws aged 4 !!!

That cloud constantly poured over the edge of the island like dry ice. Very strange - I should have filmed it really...

Shucks, you guys :)

All I can say is, no wonder Bruce Wayne employs Alfred - no way can he put the suit on by himself !

Glad you like the pics.

Forgot to say, they're obviously apex predators. I was amazed by how many times we watched them swim away from us and disappear, only to reappear totally undetected right behind us 20 seconds later. I also got the impression they were looking at us and the cages and saying "You know, if I really wanted to, that cage wouldn't help..."

Amazing creatures.

Damn son, that sounds (and looks) like some next level stuff. Amazing pics, congratulations on being able to live out an ambition like that!

Thanks ilm - it was kind of a gift to myself on turning 40 this year. Had seen a lot about Guadalupe on Discovery and Nat Geo and when I found out that a company was running 5-day trips out to the island (www.sharkdiver.com) I knew it was time to do it !

Bloody hell stunning shots and that must've been a hell of an experience! Like you said though, you just know if they wanted you out of that cage they'd have done it. We like to think we're the dominant species on the planet, doesn't mean we're not humbled by mere fish from time to time :)

Very very cool photos though
