No Diablo III thread guys?! You should be ashammed... lol

Anyway from 8pm UK time the Diablo III will enter open beta for the weekend.

Go to your page game client download and download it from Battle.Net

I'll post my battle tag here for some multiplayer over the weekend.

Hope it runs well on my laptop!

Played the beta just now. It was pretty fun for the 30 or so minutes before I got kicked from my own game!

And now I can't even log on anymore. :(

Fucking hell I wish I could play it offline.

Already played it through with 2 classes, with 2 friends of mine.

The final beta boss is really cool, altough a bit easy.

Have to run it with everything on low and at 1024x800 if I'm not mistaken.

I'm running on a Vaio with:

Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz
3 GB Ram
Ati Mobility Radeon HD3470

Runs quite smooth with the multiplayer, so I think on singleplayer I'll be able to rise the settings.

Just had another run through with a mate. It worked well this time!

He didn't like my spider jars though.

Btw, my tag is FrothierShai#1422 if anyone wants to add me

I really do find it quite hilarious that one of the Witch Doctor's main attacks is throwing spiders at people.

Wow, this Error 3003 game sure is fun. More than worth 80 bucks.

I've been super hype for this game for months (which, yes, a lot of people have, but I was actually quite surprised that I was), but for some reason the extra fiver or so is putting me off buying it. Long weekend for me this week, though, so I might well pick it up off the shelf in Tesco or something if I see it.

Is there any way to get a demo of this? Really want to play it but the only machine I have that beats the minimum specs is a 2-3 year old MacMini. Want to make sure it runs ok before handing over the money.

This reads like there is a demo, but you'd need a access code from someone who already has the full game.
(Not sure why they make it so hard for hesitant players to try out their game...)

You need a guest pass, which comes in a boxed copy of the game, to play up to the Skeleton King boss, essentially the same part as the Beta.

They've said they'll unlock it for anyone who wants to try the game in a few weeks once the servers are less hammered.

Barbarian is a lot more fun than I thought it was going to be. I've never been one for the melee classes, but there's just something about watching bodies fly everywhere that is so, so appealing.

Yes Hairy, it is Mac friendly.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll give it a few weeks and hopefully pick up the demo.

I don't really like how utterly, utterly pointless it is to sell to or buy from in-game merchants. Sell something for a hundred measley gold, and look later to see the asking price as more than 20 times that. wtf? As it is, there is almost zero point in selling magical items - much better to salvage them.

And I get that this is probably because Blizzard want people to use the auction house. But that shouldn't be the only option. As it goes, I wonder why they even bother having merchants in the first place, given how much of an almighty ripoff they are.

Nice review.

I played the PS3 original release and have the PS4 version in my hand now.

I played nearly all the way through the story on the original, got to a boss I couldn't beat and then stopped playing.

Can anyone tell me why it is so addictive?

Is it the adventure mode?

Been trying to get into Diablo 3 on Xbox One but it just isn't gripping me at all. I find the whole thing so mindless and passive. Seems there's little skill and I'm just stood there a lot pointing my character in one direction hammering the A and B buttons, occasionally pressing all of the others every now and then once the cool-down has finished.

Am I missing something?

Maybe it's because I chose Witch Doctor?

Hah, I bought this just yesterday and started out as a Witch Doctor as well. I wasn't quite feeling it either, but now that I've switched to the Demon Hunter I'm enjoying it more. Switching to a higher difficulty also helped.

I'm playing on the 2nd hardest difficulty level. Can't remember the name of it. I've died quite a few times as Witch Doctor. Maybe it's not the best class to start out with. Seems so passive what with all its weird and wacky beasties.

Oh, right. I'm playing on the second easiest at the moment, should probably increase it a bit more.

It's definitely a very passive game, but in my case that's good. I needed a new game to play whilst listening to podcasts.

I keep hearing people say that, but I don't want a passive game. I want something I can get invested in and that feels like I'm being skillfull rather than mind-numbingly hammering all the buttons then having a pavlovian reaction whenever I pick up something blue or orange.

Right, put it on easy and blast through the story as quickly as possible.

This opens up adventure mode where you can do bounties and rifts whilst unlocking the harder difficulties with much higher drop rates.

And yeah, maybe pick a different class, the WD does tend to have his pets do a lot of the work.

Like, straight up, what did you think Diablo *was* before you bought this game?

I didn't buy it, I got sent a promo copy and was interested to try it after hearing so much about it.

I'm not saying it's a bad game, clearly it's extremely well-polished, just seems too passive for me.

Maybe I've played too many twitch-shooters.
