Ooch!

Interesting article on how Amazon is going to destroy retail competitors

So imagine Amazon taking the tax hit to set up distribution warehouses and centres in mainland UK, near population centres - with the aim of offering SAME DAY delivery (or pickup I guess)

Bye bye games retail, I'd love to say it's been a pleasure, but as we both know it'd be a complete lie... :)

A lot of people are saying it'll be the death knell for high street retail. I think what they actually mean to say is 'high street retail will be forced to stop taking the fucking piss with prices / delivery dates and choice'

The biggest problem I have with Amazon is them using some of the most cuntilicious home delivery networks though, so if there's suddenly an option to go and pick your own stuff up from an Amazon distribution centre, I'm going to be all over that.

Would be very happy to see this sort of thing happen as I have started having problems with Royal Mail recently.

I have little to zero sympathy for high street retail personally. They brought their demise upon themselves with their recent shoddy practices and wholesale pimping of used games.

I'm pretty happy with Prime as it is (except when HDNL are involved for an actual home delivery, seriously Amazon ditch these fuckers!) but same day would be awesome.

Our postie often comes round at about half 6 in the evening nowadays. Fortunately he never rings twice.

Read a lot lately about how the high st is going to be more for leisure and recreation going forwards. Astonished our local Jessops is having a refit tbh, they're the camera equivalent of dixons for the try before you buy lot.

What bakes my noodle most about high street retail is this. You've got a premises? Well done. You've got an online website? Well done again. You won't allow me to pay the same price in the premises that I pay online? WHY THE FUCK?

If the Amazon thing works this way, they'll pretty much win outright without retail even putting up much of a fight.

Likewise with the postal nightmares thing though, HDL (What did they recently change their name to, I think I'm mentally blocking it out it's so shit) and Royal Mail are equally tossy about leaving parcels everywhere that they shouldn't be left, but at least with Prime or the paid for delivery service you can report a loss straight away rather than having to wait for a fortnight.

Should be the tagline of that article.

Can't come soon enough.

That's it. I should've remembered because the sound I make when the fuckers leave yet another parcel on the doormat in plain view of anyone passing is sort of a yodel. A very loud sweary yodel.

Once a Yodel driver had a go at me for being in because everyone else on his round so far had been out so he'd already written the undelivered note.

Holy moly, Amazon wouldn't just destroy retail, surely they would dominate the online space even more than they do already. Just have to open up their selection of foodstuffs and it would be GGs.

A had an Amazon delivery person cunt (not Yodel, can't remember their name) 'attempt' to deliver to me the other week. Their 'attempt' at delivering was to walk up to my door (I saw them), put a 'sorry, you were not in card' through my letter box and run down the driveway and, even though I shouted at him just before he got in the van, fly off up the road.

And you can do fuck all, because said company doesn't pick up the phone, it has no way of actually getting through to anything other than an automated service, and Amazon do fuck all about it.

Haven't used them since. For the really small amount of entertainment products I can now afford, I'm relatively happy to spend about 10% more and buy it in a shop, or what I usually do is reserve it for 'store collection' at a far cheaper price than I can pay for it instore (which, as Peej said, is fucking ridiculous anyway).
