I watched 'Begins' again last night, and I think that although there's more - and I hate to use the word because it's not really - 'gore' in Dark Knight, I think that the visuals in 'Begins' are more frightening, like when Scarecrow gasses the crime boss, and then when Batman appears as the Bat-Demon.

One of the drawbacks of watching with an audience is that bits that I felt should have come off as creepy the audience would laugh at, killing the mood. Half the time I was obsessing over and getting annoyed at what everyone else thought and how they reacted (I'm just like that).

Finally saw Begins on Saturday. Thought it was OK but definitely not on a par with the first Burton film. The main problem was Bale - simply far too beefy to be passable as Wayne, and his Batman voice was awful.

Could have done without Holmes too - simply awful.

Oh yeah, that car chase sequence was dire too.

But it did leave me itching to watch the sequel so I've already added the BluRay to my rental list :-)

i'll take that as an apology for you calling my girlfriend cuntish. sitting with your kid during a film that has a certificate implying that they're about the right age for but may be a little too adult, is a whole lot different to bunging them things that are well out of their age range and paying them no attention. and she wasn't complaining about anything, she just didn't let her daughter look at the screen. save the vitriol for someone deserving in future.

Massive apologies eviltobz...

meh, can't you read, i said i'd already taken your previous post as an apology ;)

It's gonna be a while before there's another one. It sounds like this film is going to potentially very interesting anyway.

Tried to watch TDK a couple of days ago. Found myself greeted with the worst sound mix ever. It didn't matter how I set things or which system I played it through, the voices were whisper quiet and followed by insanely loud action. We ended up turning it off and sending it back after about 20 minutes.

Have to say that all this stuff about canning any future cinematic appearances of the Joker in respect of Heath Ledger is a bit beyond the pale. I still reckon they should give Mark Hammill a shot. He's got the voice and I'm sure now he's getting old and craggy he's got a fair amount of the look too.

He was big in Bronson too IIRC.

Assuming that they play Bane per the comics, funny that Hardy's playing another evil genius/tactician after hamming it up as Shinzon in Star Trek Nemesis !

I completely forgot he was Picard's baldy nemesis.

Looks alright with a slaphead. Which is something you can't say about everyone, right?

You'd think with the tagline "The Legend Ends" they should've just called the third film "Batman Ends" to make it a bookend along with the first film.

Argh, my OCD

Good article w/poster (and Catwoman cover option) in this month's Empire magazine.

The film clocks in at 2 hours 45 minutes. Crikey!

Looks like a crime epic, then.

Thought the last one was too long as well. Nolan can't make a short film can he?
