That can bugger off, but Home itself looks interesting. So long as you can have it only open to your friendslist.

Kinda like Planet Web on the Dreamcast, if anyone played around with that...

Nah, definitely t'other way round for me.
Home looks like a clever idea, but I'd never use it and would hate even selecting the icon. Having to create a Mii was a painful enough experience.

Pretty little sandboxes on the other hand...

All sounds like a lot of pointless toss to me. If I want to see someone's achievements I'd rather there was a nice simple screen rather than having to wander around their bloody virtual house.

I still think their PR is rubbish :)

And anyone who thinks they're not going to charge for hats in Home is a bit daft ;)

Little Big Planet definitely sounded interesting - I'm cetainly gonna check it out when we get our hands on it at work :-)

"Home" on the other hand sounded incredibly dull - nothing new, just achievements list as a 3D trophy room and some other stuff I'd never use :-/ I didn't like Animal Crossing and can't be arsed with MMO gubbins, so a mini-"second life" or what have you jsut sounds like a really cumbersome menu system to me. I'd hope they have a "simplified" version that's basically just a list in a menu like the 360 - comparing the achievements I've got in Crackdown to my mate's list is kinda fun, but if I had to mince around a virtual trophy room to do it it'd be a bit daft and overcomplicated.

To give LBP its due it's the very first thing on the PS3 that could be uttered in the same sentence as the word originality, without having to be accompanied by other words like 'lack', 'of', 'copied' and 'desperate'.

BTW anyone want to explain why EG "doctored" their shots slightly? The ones on Gamespress look jaggier and have white dot-fragments around poly splits, EGs do not...

They've shrunk some down and applied a healthy dose of lovely blur to the others.

C'mon, the images in EG are smaller, but the jaggies on the skateboard are still apparent.I have no idea where you think they've blurred anything. The only blurring that appears to have occurred is that which happens when an image is reduced. It's hardly conspiracy fodder.

edit: To be honest, the Gamepress ones look *better* than the EG images.

Anyway, the game looks ace. Fun. Silly fun. £425's worth of silly fun? Hmm, I doubt it.

:-D

I *really* like the "toy town", cardboard, Blue Peter creation, Postman Pat graphical design/ look they've got going on there - I just think that's really cool! The little characters look ace as well -they look they'd have bags of charm as long as the animations and audio match the "toy" style.

Definitely. Watching that video, I got the same grin I got when I had the first Loco Roco demo in my hands.

Watch it! You'll know what I mean :-D

I've seen rumblings that Media Molecule were up to something funky. I'd guess that's it.

I hope it's as fun as it looks. Shame about the price tag though, eh?

Hehe - yeah they've definitely taken some inspiration from LocoRoco's music at least, really jolly little playground type thing there with the recorder, kid's singing and all. :-)

The gameplay idea of "co-operative competition" (or competitive co-operation if you like) sounds kinda cool as well - I find the multiplayer games I enjoy the most are ones that involve a lot of co-operation.
Also, it'll be interesting to see how capable the "content creation" part of it is - I find I'm a bit sceptical about how varied it will be until I've seen some more about it and had a go myself.

And what's this about the price anyhoo? How much are they charging for it? I couldn't see any info about prices and that, presumed it was gonna be on the PS Network for a reasonable "download" price.

okay, jsut finished watching the vid and that is officially "Fucking Awesome" in my book :-D

I mean, from the vid it looks like it'll only be good for side-scrolling platformers? But I think they claim the user-created content will be powerful enough to do lots more than that - but the video had me grinning my ears off with jsut what was shown :-D Especially how they had to help each other to get the little jetpacks, then all grab that big shell!

Heh. I meant the £425 for the first game that's really got me going "ooooh", rather than "Hmm, I bet that's some fun. I'll buy it when the hardware is half the price."

I'm not at all sure about the price. I'm not really sure about anything to do with the game. I got in about an hour a go and watched the video. It's only that which has sparked a bit of enthusiasm in me.

For all I know I may be utterly wrong. I'm talking first impressions. It's the first mainstream game I've seen in ages that has made me stop and feel properly - perhaps unreasonably - excited.

Ah I getcha now - yup, totally agree. Just LBP and Motorstorm that I have even vague interest in on the PS3.
From what little I've gleaned about LBP, it'll be available as a download fairly soon, but then early next year on BluRay an EG article said, so I'm not sure what the release schedule is that they're planning, but it seems like it will be in the mid-range to full-price game bracket.

It's just really nice to start seeing high-profile games like LBP, Viva Pinata, Katamari, LocoRoco etc. that don't subscribe to the over-used "guns & muscles & urban & gritty" style :-)

It reminds me of LocoRoco, and looks pleasingly mental. Needs crazy Japanese singing to complete the experience though.

I should probably actually watch the video rather than just look at screenies and read people's opinion on it, but I'm fucking tearing my hair out at the minute at how excited everyone's getting. It sounds clever, but hardly worth buying a console for.
