Mount & Blade Warband Review

   16/09/2016 at 16:40       CHRIS OTOOLE       0 COMMENTS.
Mount & Blade Warband is not a looker by any stretch of the imagination, it's rough around the edges, the models are pretty poor and the textures aren't the greatest. On the plus side it does move pretty well, it's lovely and smooth and I only noticed a few instances of tearing. The story is told through a 'choose your own adventure' book kind of way. You read a bit of text then choose from a couple of options. Not that there is much of a story, there's no saving the world here, ...
Warner Bros. Shows Us Batman's Bling

Check out this new trailer showing how us how pretty the new Batman: Return to Arkham will look compared to the old, grotty, smelly versions available on pauper consoles. It neatly showcases the game’s improved graphics, upgraded models, environments, lighting, effects and shaders. No word on the framerate yet, but I guess we'll just have to wait on that one. Batman: Return to Arkham is being remastered by Virtuos using Unreal Engine 4, and will be avai...
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare - Multiplayer Overview Trailer

Well would you look at this? Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare's has actually piqued my interest. This really does look like being a buttload of fun. Plus look at that n00b cannon! Surely even I can't miss with that one? The beta will be popping it's head over the wall on the 14th of October for PS4 players, with other formats to follow. So what do you reckon, will you be giving this one the old college try?...
Kerbal Space Program Xbox One Review

   29/07/2016 at 15:48       SAM       0 COMMENTS.
Kerbal Space Program mixes physics based gameplay with a variety of game modes, from pure Sandbox to a couple of permutations on career mode, to give players the opportunity to research, design, build, crew and launch their own space ships. Starting off with the most basic of rockets – an exploding trash can with a pilot strapped to the top – you progress through to flying research probes and spaceplanes, landing on and roving about other planetary bodies and generally mu...

The Magic Circle: Gold Edition Review

   08/07/2016 at 20:23       CHRIS OTOOLE       0 COMMENTS.
The Magic Circle: Gold Edition is an extremely clever game. A game in which you find yourself placed, or maybe you hacked in. Either way it's unfinished. Or is it? The developers appear as floating eyes and have arguments about whether you should be allowed weapons or not. Spoiler: They decide not. As they bicker above you like Gods, story elements unfold, one of the developers wants to be fired, as she can't quit for contractual reasons, so she wants you to help her bring th...
Kung-Fu for Kinect Review

   29/06/2016 at 16:45       CHRIS OTOOLE       0 COMMENTS.
Well hello there, what do we have here, dear reader? Why it's a lesser-spotted Kinect game for the Xbox One! A rarity if ever I did see it. Although to be fair Virtual Air Guitar Company have been supporting Microsoft's much maligned peripheral better than anyone else. Their latest foray into the motion detected waters sees you cast as yourself, only here you are the apprentice of a great warrior. Of course you being you, you fuck things right up and end up having to kick the faces of...
Deadlight Director's Cut Review

   22/06/2016 at 14:39       CHRIS OTOOLE       0 COMMENTS.
When Deadlight burst onto the scene in 2012 as part of Microsoft's Summer of Arcade (may she rest in peace) it was hailed on this very website as being one of the best 2D platformers in a good long while. Deadlight Director's Cut has you pulling on the worn boots of gruff beardy man Randall Wayne as he has to jump, platform and puzzle his way through a whole cities worth (including sewers) of shadow infested action. Well, Tequila Works says shadows, what they really ...

Dead Island Definitive Collection Review

   03/06/2016 at 16:21       CHRIS OTOOLE       0 COMMENTS.
Dead Island Definitive Collection includes Dead Island, Dead Island: Riptide and Dead Island Retro Revenge. A fairly full package a gaming goodness for the asking price of twenty five quid, and it can be had even more cheaply online. Assuming it's any good of course, so let's have a delve. Released in the space year 2011, Dead Island was an instant sensation thanks to a spectacular marketing campaign, I don't think I've seen a better t...
Overwatch Review

   31/05/2016 at 18:08       CHRIS OTOOLE       0 COMMENTS.
It's hard to talk about Blizzard's Overwatch without referencing Valve's Team Fortress 2, the current champion of the online multiplayer shooter world. They both have a cartoon aesthetic, they both have similar game modes and they both have a roster of likeable characters with specific traits. The main difference is Blizzard are asking full price for Overwatch, Valve's game is free. So is it worth stumping up the cash for this new experience? Yeah, of course...
Deadlight: Director's Cut Gets An All New Mode

   25/05/2016 at 16:07       CHRIS OTOOLE       0 COMMENTS.
Deep Silver slid a new Youtube video under our door today, detailing the brand new Survival Arena Mode for Deadlight: Director's Cut which will be release on the 21st of June for sixteen notes. In the all new Survival Arena Mode pick-ups are essential to withstand the hordes, such as in-map weapons and ammunition. Changing the game, different weapons will also be introduced, including the Machine Gun, Molotov Cocktail and Sniper Rifle. A further helping hand will be offered t...
Homefront: The Revolution Review

   23/05/2016 at 18:06       CHRIS OTOOLE       0 COMMENTS.
I've been hearing things about Homefront: The Revolution for some time, whispers it wasn't going to be any good after its change of publisher and the small scale nature of it's development team (the remains of Free Radical Design fact fans). Heck I'm writing this after I've read the early-bird reviews which haven't exactly been glowing. So approaching this as a gamer who likes games let's give it a fair shake of the stick. Norks. Not the beautiful lady bump variety, but the a...
Civ 6? Yes Please!

2K have just rammed the brand new annouce trailer for Civilisation VI into my inbox, and I think you really ought to watch it. Civilization VI will offer up new ways to interact with your world, expand your empire across the map, advance your culture, and compete against history’s greatest leaders to build a civilization that will stand the test of time. Well that is if Ghandi doesn't nuke you first. Originally created by legendary game designer Sid Mei...
Party Hard Review

   27/04/2016 at 18:01       CHRIS OTOOLE       0 COMMENTS.
When Party Hard first appears on your screen blasting it's 16-bit style sprites and chip-tune music at your face and ears, it's hard not to peg it as Hotline Miami's mescaline addled twin. It's pure pixel death, but at a much slower pace. Developed by Pinoki Games at a game jam, it attracted the wandering eye of TinyBuild who stumped up the money to make a full fat version for PC and consoles, and I for one am pretty glad they did. Taking the role of 'Guy Who...
